How Much Does Filing for Bankruptcy Cost?
Since bankruptcy is an option for those strapped for cash, one of the first things on our clients’ minds is how much bankruptcy will cost. Chapter 7 Bankruptcy
Our basic Chapter 7 Bankruptcy fees starts at only $499 and can go up $1,099 based on the extra work and filing necessary.
The basic $499 package is for those who have no income, no car, and no house. However, the more assets you have the more work there is for the lawyer to protect those assets.
Basic Package
There are several different factors that raise this fee up to $1,099. For those who own a car, it’s an extra $100. If you own a house it’s an extra $200. If you are employed, there is an additional $100 fee.
Additionally, if there is garnishment, i.e. if assets have already been seized by a debtor and now need to be retrieved, there is also an extra $100 lawyer’s fee. Lastly, there is additional $100 fee for those with more than 10 creditors.
Chapter 13 Bankruptcy
Chapter 13 bankruptcy things are more straightforward. There is a flat fee of $3,500 with $750 down and the rest will be paid through the chapter 13 repayment plan.
